My father originally came to Gardens for 30 days of respite care in June of 2018. In October the same year he decided to make it his permanent residence. I have great peace of mind having him there and close to my home in Chandler. Tami, the director obviously loves what she does and has always been there to answer my questions and help my father when I’ve needed something special. She is just one of the great assets to Gardens. Irene, Andrea and Leah are also solid caregivers that never hesitate to answer my questions or help with any requests as well. They all take the time to make my father and the other guests feel welcome and individually important. There are numerous activities available for all residents, shuttle service to shopping if needed, two restaurants to dine in, a lounge and a bistro to enjoy any time. One of the best features that gives me comfort is the emergency button all residents wear, he has used it many times and received the assistance he needed as soon as possible, this is so important as our parents get older and need additional help at times. We had numerous choices of where my father wanted to move; he chose Gardens, and I am glad he did.

I have been looking for a place for my mom to reside and was having struggles with locating a place in the right budget with the right amenities & location. Dale at the Gardens was most helpful and took the time to understand my search criteria and guided me to locations that would fit my needs. I am certain that the community is a great place to live!!

All team members provide outstanding service. They call all residents and family by their first names. The meals are good. The activities are outstanding. I highly recommend living at Gardens at Ocotillo for those transitioning into their elder years or need assisted living/memory care.

My Mother-in-law was one of the first residences at Gardens in independent living. She enjoyed the final two years of her 100 yr old life at Gardens. The staff is like a caring, loving family that provided support as needed plus lots of varied activities for all the residence. She loved the staff and all her Garden's friends.

We spent six months looking into facilities that offered assisted living choices for our 95 year old mother. We looked online and visited many facilities in the area. We chose the Gardens at Ocotillo for a number of reasons and have not been disappointed. There was never a hard sell, which we appreciated. The facility is gorgeous and there are beautiful seasonal touches throughout the common areas. Mom’s apartment is perfect for her. She even has her own washer and dryer in the apartment! The caregivers and staff are incredibly kind to Mom and truly love what they do. If Mom rings the buzzer, somebody promptly shows up to assist her. Our goal is for Mom to get the help she needs, but to do as much for herself as she is able. The staff has made that happen. She gets the help she needs, which might be different one day from the other. We have been able to specify what daily and weekly needs work for her. Mom is very sharp, so if something isn’t working, she would tell us!Mom loves to dine. Cloth napkins and a beautiful dining room with a full menu is available. She can order off the menu or from the two specials of the day. The dining staff seems to know just what special touch is needed for each resident.Activities are numerous! There are special events on a regular basis…singers and professional groups come to the facility for seasonal entertainment. Once each month there is an extra special dinner that is focused on a certain color. Residents dress up and seem to love the special evening. Mom goes to exercise class during the week, and has a standing appointment at the hair salon. When she needed physical therapy, she was able to get quality rehab at the facility, which was very helpful to her.The facility is large enough to find people who Mom enjoys, but small enough where the caregivers and staff know Mom.We have had great communication with the caregivers and administrators. Our extensive search has been successful! Mom has now been at the Gardens at Ocotillo for 16 months. She originally told us she lived at the “Meadows”…and we’d know she was home when she called it the “Gardens”. It’s been the “Gardens” for over a year!

I didn't know what to expect when I moved into the Gardens at Ocotillo, but I can truly say it has above and beyond what I hoped for. We are family here. No matter what your status is in the community we are all one. There couldn't be a better staff. They are so involved in our lives and put their hearts and souls into making our days fulfilling and fun. I can't think of a better place to spend my retirement years. Thank you, Gardens at Ocotillo.

The Gardens at Ocotillo has created such a beautiful environment of love, caring, laughter and community. My parents moved in about a year ago, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. The entire staff treats the residents with respect and kindness. After my dad past away, Mom was surrounded by people who truly cared and showered her with love, both from the other residents and the staff. I can't say enough about the Gardens at Ocotillo.. Thank you for all you do!

Due to a fluid situation with my in laws' health, we came to the Gardens of Ocotillo to learn what options were available. We met with Dan Carter. Dan was very accommodating in gauging our interests and needs while offering solid options. He is direct and very informative- great to work with.My in laws health situation rapidly changed which therefore required their care plans to change several times in the course of a week.Dan was with us every step of the way. He was a source of facts, reason, and very accommodating during a challenging and hectic time for our family. Dan was a rock. He was our rock.He facilitated these changes for us rapidly, carefully, and compassionately.Dan, thank you for all you have done for us. You are so appreciated. And Gardens of Ocotillo is fortunate to have you in their employ. ( And this is written by someone who worked in eldercare!) You and Gardens of Ocotillo are top notch professionals!!!!

Circumstances prevented my parents from moving into the Gardens of Ocotillo, but the staff exceeded my expectations for the support and care they provided my family when my mother was moved from home to another Spectrum property in Illinois. Dan Carter in Sales was particularly instrumental in helping us in the transfer of paperwork and support toward her move to Lombard Place in Lombard, IL. Both the Gardens of Ocotillo and Lombard Place have shown our family to have compassionate, caring people on staff in clean facilities. My mother is well-cared for at Lombard Place, but if it had worked out for her to live at Gardens of Ocotillo, it would have been a positive move for her, I am sure. The Spectrum Company offers quality senior living for its residents.

Having a family member in memory care is very difficult for the resident, the staff, and the family. Our experience at Ocotillo Gardens was superb given these difficulties. The staff was so caring. Everyone was treated with dignity, respect, and the many needs were attended to promptly. I couldn't give this place any higher recommendation.

Moved my mother-in-law in the middle of May. It's a beautiful, NEW facility. They go to great lengths to make sure they know everyone's name and that everyone is cared about. It means so much to mom that she is greeted by name. Staff is super helpful and kind. The dining area is linen table cloths and napkins. The food is (for the most part) very well-prepared. Definitely "Senior" portions, but adequate and they get to order off a menu, so that's nice. The rooms are well-appointed and rooms are good size. The decorations in the common areas are fabulous! They provide fun activities for them to do. Their own movie theater and BINGO are huge hits as are the other get-togethers. Would totally encourage you to check it out if you're looking for independent or assisted living.

My mother lived at the Gardens of Ocotillo for 1.5 years. When she moved in, she lived in the AL, but was very independent. All was well until she had a stroke. This community wasn't there for us at all. They made our situation more stressful then it already was. They asked us to buy a hospital bed, hire our own private caregivers, etc. The Gardens caregivers complained (even in front of me) because they wanted to do the least work possible. Accompanying a resident to lunch or reminding them its dinner was probably their best work.Turnover was constant (the place was only open for 2 years), but heck, their dining staff was better trained then the caregivers or their company directors. If your parent just needs a pretty place, where someone can do their laundry and cook meals then all is well. DO NOT think your parent will age in place here. They will age, but they will soon be out of a place if anything real happens to them.My family was treated poorly after mom’s illness and the only way for her to recover was to leave. The Gardens of Ocotillo pretended they cared, but two weeks after mom’s illness made it very apparent they did not. Look at the contract closely. There are all types of ways for them to not care for your parent or pretend they require more than they need. They can also give you 14-day notice. Just try to find a loving community and make the switch that quick. This is why the Gardens cost less than other communities. It is a big bait and switch. We left for a new community and mom is thankfully doing great. She is healing and the caregivers are knowledgeable and professional.EDITI'm glad people feel my mom is as wonderful as I feel she is, but I do not feel this was a safety issue at the Gardens. This was an issue of caregivers that were not educated or as capable as other professionals have explained to me. You cannot have a loved one come back "home" from an illness and have caregivers frustrated and unhelpful when assisting in an assisted living. I agree with the professionals I've talked to and as much as it makes me sad, I still stand by my review.
