COVID Safety Measures

Vaccine Information

On December 2, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control determined that senior living communities (also known as Long Term Care facilities) are in priority group 1A for the vaccine. However, distribution, participants and timelines are determined by state and local governments, and therefore scheduling is out of our control. We are working closely with CVS/Omnicare and other local entities to provide the vaccine to our residents and team members as quickly as possible. We will update residents and family members with scheduled COVID-19 vaccination clinics as soon as we have been contacted by the state. The vaccine will be provided free of charge for all residents.

Cleaning and Facility Maintenance

Building Cleanliness
Building cleanliness has always been a top priority. Our supplies utilized have not changed, but rather our cleaning practices have been enhanced to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including increasing the frequency of cleaning and our focus on high-touch areas.

The primary way in which we are maintaining community spaces is with a United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered disinfectant. We are using an ECOLAB Peroxide Disinfectant that can kill 99.999% of viruses and bacteria on hard and soft surfaces. Our maintenance and housekeeping teams have been trained on how to properly use this disinfectant, which includes applying a generous amount to the application area, and then allowing the solution to stay wet (dwell) for at least 45 seconds. Our teams use both a standard sprayer or a continuous-stream sprayer, both of which are affective and utilizing the same solution. This disinfectant is used throughout the day throughout the entire community.

Disinfecting hard and soft surfaces is one of many interventions that we are taking to ensure the health and well-being of our residents and team members. Our team members are frequently wiping down commonly touched areas and high-traffic areas.

Outside vendors are only allowed in the community for critical or emergency items to limit the number of unnecessary visitors in the community.

Resident Unit Cleaning
Our housekeeping team has continued to clean apartments per the regular cleaning schedules. All team members are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Apartment cleaning involves cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces with our approved disinfecting chemicals and multi-surface cleaners effective against biologic pathogens.

 AeroClave® RDS 3110
Decontamination and disinfection are key components of our community safety and infection control. As a part of our infection control program, we have acquired an AeroClave®, a decontamination system that our community uses on an as-needed basis. This system uses an aerosolized, EPA-approved, hospital grade solution to eliminate infection agents such as COVID-19, MERS, Ebola, Norovirus, and other such pathogens. These machines are used for periodic decontamination, apartment cleaning and sterilization, and targeted disinfection with actual or potential cases of COVID-19.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Team Members
To protect our residents and team members, PPE is required for the direct care of our residents. Our community reports weekly inventories of all supplies so we can adequately track and ensure appropriate levels of PPE are on hand at all times.

Every resident has been provided with a facemask, as well as instructions for use, to wear throughout the community. Residents are required to wear a facemask in the community when outside of their apartment and inside their apartment when receiving care.

Screening & Visitation

To protect the integrity of our community environments, we screen all individuals prior to entry into the community. All individuals are screened using a CDC-based questionnaire and a temperature check for fever prior to being allowed into the community. All traffic is directed to the main community entrance to ensure screening compliance.

Visitation may be restricted per state guidelines. For specific guidance regarding visitation, please see our CDC and Local Guidelines page.
