Dear Residents and Family Members,
One of the great benefits of what we do is that we are surrounded by incredible mothers every day. Whether you are one yourself or have someone special in your life that holds this title, these important women deserve to be celebrated.
“A mother’s love is forever strong, never changing for all time. The real religion of the world comes from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our hearts and souls.” This quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes perfectly defines our feelings about mothers. As the grandson of someone living in a Spectrum community, this resonates with me personally.
This year, the best way to celebrate the mothers in our lives is to do so virtually. Keep her safe, keep yourself safe.
Many states are beginning to lift elements of “stay-at-home” orders, but this does not apply to senior living communities. We have worked extraordinarily hard for too long to let our guard down now. We all share the responsibility to remain cautionary and do what we can to physically distance ourselves. It’s essential that residents and families follow our guidance in order to maintain the safety of our residents and team members.
We are sympathetic to the desire to see family and loved ones on this special day. We recommend you utilize virtual options, like Skype or other programs that may be accessible on your loved one’s personal mobile device.
If you visit the community, remember that you may not enter due to restrictions that remain in place. We encourage you to make posters and signs to convey that special Mother’s Day message and ask that you honor physical distancing requirements of at least six feet – this includes main floor apartment patios and open windows.
Again, we encourage families to celebrate virtually and respect the guidelines we are required to follow.
Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate this upcoming day with your loved one:
Within the community, we will be providing a special Mother’s Day menu and coordinated events to celebrate moms throughout the day. Please know that we love ‘our’ mothers like our own, and we will do our best to make this a beautiful day.
On behalf of all of us within the Spectrum family, Happy Mother’s Day to all our residents and family members that hold the special title of “Mom.” We extend our wishes for a wonderful day.
