What a beautiful day at Lake Katherine Nature Center. It was one of those days you wish you could slow down just a little bit more!

Usually, Sophia comes to visit us, but this time we got to return the favor. We rolled up our sleeves and planted some gorgeous flowers that are now on ...display with our name on them.

The day was filled with sunshine, peaceful walks by the water, and moments that just felt easy. We planted, explored, laughed, and had plenty of “wait, come look at this” moments along the way. We even met a black rat snake and Sheldon, the sweetest senior box turtle 🐍🐢

Already looking forward to the next visit!

The bistro was completely buzzing this week as we transformed it into our very own temporary tattoo parlor! The energy was infectious as residents lined up, acting like kids in a candy store while they picked out their perfect designs.

The sheer variety of self-expression was fantastic. ...Some gravitated toward elegant flowers and butterflies, while others opted for fierce eagles and edgy skulls. The room was filled with endless belly laughs and a wonderful sense of controlled chaos. The absolute highlight of the afternoon was Ron deciding to go all out with a hilarious, brand-new head tattoo! Seeing everyone so excited to show off their new looks to their families proved that you are never too old to let your wild side out.

Our residents are officially front-page news! The results from our recent photo shoot with the incredible students of the Leo Club are finally in, and the custom magazine covers are absolutely stunning.

But the true magic of this ...event went far beyond the camera lens. These talented students spent deep, meaningful 1:1 time getting to know our residents, translating their unique lives into personalized "cover stories." Seeing themselves as the stars of their own magazines was an unforgettable experience. Resident Kathi S. was even brought to tears by her beautiful cover—a powerful testament to the impact of this intergenerational connection. Everyone is so incredibly proud to display these masterpieces in their apartments!

We channeled our inner "mad scientists" this week, but with a highly glamorous twist! 🧪💐✨

Our residents had an absolute blast participating in a one-of-a-kind perfume-making workshop. We dove headfirst into the fascinating art of fragrance, learning exactly how to match ...top, heart, and base notes to create a perfectly balanced scent. We even learned the secret ratios for a long-lasting aroma, giving everyone the chance to recreate their favorite designer brands or craft something entirely original!

It was a brand-new experience for all of us, and such a fun, hands-on way to explore our creative sides. The halls are smelling absolutely wonderful today, and everyone is so proud to be wearing their very own custom-made perfumes and colognes!

Spring has sprung! 🌸 We loved welcoming students from Chicago Christian School to our Memory Care neighborhood to decorate colorful flowerpots. Next up: rolling up our sleeves to plant fresh herbs and beautiful blooms! We can’t wait to see our garden grow! 🪴✨

Okay, we are officially still buzzing from our Spring Tea Concert! 🍯✨

We spent the afternoon sipping our way through over 20 different varieties of tea while listening to an absolutely breathtaking live classical trio. But the best part of the day? Finally getting to see all of our ...residents debut the gorgeous, oversized hats and dainty fascinators they have been crafting all week! The room was completely packed with color, laughter, and so much style. Everyone even got to take home the cutest little jar of honey as a souvenir! It was just one of those perfect, magical afternoons that makes this neighborhood so incredibly special.

High tea fashion meets handmade perfection! 🫖✨

Our creative studio was in full swing this week as residents designed the most fabulous big hats and fascinators for our upcoming tea concert. While the room was packed with ladies crafting their own beautiful headwear, our resident Jim ...totally stole our hearts. He stepped right up to the craft table to design a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece just for his sister! 💖 We love seeing so much creativity and kindness blooming in our neighborhood.
