This month, history became our destination.

Every Friday, residents explored a different piece of Kansas City's past with guided visits to Legler Barn & Museum, the Frisco Depot Train Museum, the John Wornall House, and the Alexander Majors House.

Some residents were ...revisiting favorite places from years ago, while others were experiencing these local landmarks for the very first time. Every outing sparked great conversations, shared memories, and a deeper appreciation for the history that surrounds us.

A courtroom. A mystery. And a jury ready to solve the case. ⚖️

Our upcoming mock trial will challenge everyone to examine the evidence, question witnesses, and decide who is responsible for the mysterious death of Sweet Dorothy. From the judge's bench to the witness stand, every ...role will be played by residents, making for an afternoon of teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of surprises.

The verdict? You'll have to stay tuned to find out. 👀

The games are back! 🏅

After pressing pause for a while, it's been exciting to bring back one of our favorite community traditions. Residents have jumped right back into the friendly competition with weekly challenges in horseshoes, darts, cup stacking, and bowling.

Each ...event crowns first, second, and third place winners, with plenty of laughs (and a few tie-breakers!) along the way. It's been wonderful seeing everyone cheering each other on and enjoying the spirit of friendly competition once again.

And we're just getting started...stay tuned for the exciting grand finale celebration!

No two pieces were alike—and that's what made them special.

Residents let their creativity shine as they designed and painted their own pottery plates. From freehand artwork to colorful patterns, each piece reflected its creator's unique style. After glazing the finished ...plates, many were tucked away as gifts, while others found a special place in their own apartments.

Five months later, the celebration was finally here.

The hugs, the dancing, the live music, and hearing residents say how much they missed one another made this a day to remember. Here's to new memories, stronger friendships, and being back where everyone belongs.

🏡 Welcome Home, Shawnee Hills ❤️

February 1st, our community faced an unexpected challenge when a broken sprinkler system forced many residents from their homes for five months. What could have broken us only made us stronger.

To celebrate everyone's return, residents,... families, and team members gathered for a heartfelt Welcome Home celebration filled with live music, laughter, dancing, and a special ribbon-cutting. Residents created personalized signs and banners to welcome one another back, reminding us that home isn't just a place, it's the people who fill it with love.

A heartfelt thank you to ServiceMaster for their incredible work restoring our community and for helping make this celebration so special. Today, we're not celebrating what happened. We're celebrating what we overcame together. ❤️

This month's Bistro Drop In brought residents together for a guided wine tasting.

Led by our Food & Beverage Director, the group explored different wines, learned tasting techniques, and sampled pairings with fruits and cheeses.

This Juneteenth, we reflect on the significance of freedom and the power of perseverance. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from the generations who have witnessed history, shared their stories, and helped create a more inclusive future for all.

Residents spent the day exploring the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, enjoying beautiful scenery, peaceful walks, and perfect weather.

To top it all off, we stopped by Flying Cow for ice cream before heading... home. A great day spent outdoors with great company. 🍦
